Gum Base is the primary substance that determines the characteristics of gum candies with chewing or bubbling. The gum base is usually solid to adapt to the needs of different confectionery production processes and other production equipment. Generally, it has various shapes, blocks, sheets, granules, powder, etc. In recent years, gum base manufacturers have adopted new technology to realize gum base powder-forming, providing more possibilities for gum candy applications and new products. The block gum base is the most widely used compared with the other different shapes.
Block gum base
Block gum base is the most common shape of gum base; compared with other forms of gum base, it has obvious advantages of saving costs on the packaging, transportation, storage, and other aspects. Block gum base is the most widely used in bubble gum and chewing gum factories. Gum candy factories in cold regions usually use a gum base oven to soften the gum base so that the mixer can mix all the needed ingredients totally and evenly.
Sheet gum base
Sheet gum base is mainly shaped from a hard gum base and a high softening point. Compared with block gum base, it is thinner and has a higher temperature, climate, transportation, and storage requirements. In the hot summer, it sticks together quickly, and if it sticks too hard over high temperatures, it will become as thick as the block gum base. Gum candy manufacturers with fully automated machines prefer the sheet gum base. Small note: Each piece of the sheet gum base does not stick to the other.
Granule gum base
Granule gum base is mainly shaped from a hard gum base and a high softening point. It has unique temperature, humidity, climate, and packaging requirements to keep it granular. If the temperature is too high, it will easily stick together into blocks. Factories with fully automatic machines and automatic feeders are usually more inclined to choose granule gum base. But the cost of the choice of granule gum base is much higher than the choice of the block gum base and sheet gum base.
